Who are the people who organize the Marijn foundation?
In 2001, Jet van Os from Mariaheide (Veghel, Dutch province of North-Brabant) went to Nicaragua for development work. Jet has now lived in Nicaragua for more than 13 years. Meanwhile she met her husband Milton and for years now they have lived with their two children in Bilwi on the Caribbean coast.
They set up small-scale aid projects here, because medical care, education and hygiene are of a deplorable nature. Marijn van So, Jet's mother, started to collect money to support her daughter's work. After Marijn died, others continued her charitable work and they honoured her by giving her name to the foundation.
The Marijn foundation closely collaborates with the Fundación Marijn in Nicaragua. The Marijn foundation tries to raise funds in the Netherlands while the Fundación Marijn carries out projects with a team of highly committed and professional local people. Jet and Milton are still closely involved as well.
